The Civil War and the Iraq War are very different. The Civil War was mainly over the topic of slaves. The North felt slavery was immoral and wrong. The South needed slavery to run their large plantations, which they relied on heavily for agricultural products and food. In the North there were many factories, so they didn’t need to rely on slavery. During the War the North having many factories and a bigger population had a big advantage over the south, but they didn’t have many experienced leaders. Without experienced leaders it’s hard to win. The South had a smaller population and very few factories, but they did have many experienced leaders. The reason factories gave the North an advantage was that they could produce many weapons to equip their entire army. Some of the Weapons the North used were the first repeating rifles, rifles, cannons, grenades, trains, and Gatling guns. The South didn’t have enough factories to supply all their soldiers with equipment so most of the time the used stolen Northern supplies. The Civil War took a large tool on the country with over 1,000,000 casualties. The North won in the End, but the country would have a hard time rebuilding itself.
The only major similarity between the American Civil War and the Iraq war is that they are both Civil Wars. The Iraq War is between three Muslim religious groups over hatred for each other, and how they think their government should be set up . Each group has different ideas on how their government should be set up. Some want democracy, some want dictatorship and some might even want a military-run country. English and American forces are in Iraq to get oil and attempt to “keep the peace.” Iraq currently has a democratic government, but is still at war. Some of the equipment used by American and British forces are tanks, jeeps, humvees, APCs, helicopters, planes, GPS, Machine guns, Radar, Comanche’s, and IFVs. Many of the groups don’t have all the equipment America and England have because they don’t have anywhere to get it. The death toll in Iraq is over 3,000 and still rising. The Iraq War is still raging without a clear outcome in sight.
