King Kong: The WEI it Should Have Ended

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I just finished watching the movie Peter Jackson’s King Kong. I thought the movie was terrific. Really good special effects, and lots of good actions scenes. However, I am very much at odds with the end of the movie. I know this is just a re-make of the original, but still. It’s terribly sad how the great ape dies. The one thing Kong cared about was the beautiful Ann. He risked his life to be with her. And no matter, in the end he dies. It was tragic, how all the ape wanted, was simply to be with the beauty, and he ends up dying because of his simple want.

So, naturally, I said to myself, “Hey, I have a blog, why not write the way I think it should of ended?” So, this is exactly what I’m doing.

As the beast saw that the woman brought before him was not his love, Ann, the beast grew angry. It roared loudly, and started shaking his chains, terrifying the audience. The beast eventually broke free of it’s shackles, stood, and pounded it’s chest, and roared even louder in defiance of his captors. He than proceeded to make his way out of the theatre, and into the streets of the concrete jungle, New York. Terrified citizens ran and screamed in every direction from the mad beast. Kong smacked cars around as if they were balls as he continued his growling and roaring. In search of the beauty, Kong picked up several women hoping to find her. With his search going no where, Kong focused his attention on a trolley cart, trying to tear it apart and smash it up.

Eventually, Jack Driscoll decided to try and lure the beast away. He took a cab and got Kong’s attention. Kong took the bait. He followed the little taxi cab Jack was in through the streets of New York. Jack was swerving and sliding every desperately trying to keep out of the ape’s reach. Finally, Kong caught the little car and flipped it over. As the Kong stared angrily at the little man in the car, a woman came to his sight. The beautiful Ann walked towards the beast, not afraid, but happy. Kong grabbed Ann and took her to a park, away from everything. There, he held her in his hand and slipped and slided playfully along the iced up water. They were both filled with joy. For only moments however. They were interrupted when an artillery shell landed close and cracked the ice. The Kong started off to get away. All along his path were more military men shooting at him with whatever they had.

The Kong jumped onto buildings and ran along them, heading for the largest building, the Empire State Building. There, he began to climb up with one hand, all the way to the top. Kong put Ann down and looked at her, and she at him. They stayed peacefully for a few moments, until again their peace was interrupted, this time, by planes. The planes began circling the building, and Kong went to the very top and roared defiance. Then, the planes started shooting. Kong tried desperately to swing at them, but it was to no avail. The planes continued their attack, with the Kong helpless. However, Ann started yelling to get Kong’s attention as she proceeded to climb down the building. Kong took noticed and stop trying to catch the planes. He went down to get Ann. Once Kong had gotten Ann, she started pointing South. The Kong understood, and started heading South. He jumped from the building onto another, and another, until finally he jumped to the ground. Then he ran, fast as he could, to a heavily forested area, well out of the city now. There, he put Ann down, and they finally had some uninterrupted peace. Until Jack Driscoll found them. The Kong was asleep, and Ann talked to Jack, they went to the authorities and convinced them to bring Kong to an uninhabited island, not to far from the New York coast. Quietly, with Kong still asleep, he was brought to the island. With Ann and Jack. After spending quite some time with Kong, Ann explained as best she could that she had to leave, but she would be back to visit the ape as often as she could, and then, the story was over…

I know this can be better, but I just wanted to throw it out there. Any comments/criticism is welcomed. Thanks for reading.
